¡¡¡¡Land Resource The total area of Heyuan Municipality is 15,800 square kilometers, among which there are 1,962,680 mus of arable land. The area of per capita arable land is 0.62 mu

¡¡¡¡Mineral Resources Heyuan has always been called as the treasure mine of east Guangdong. Fifty-six kinds of mineral have been discovered with the characteristics of rich variety, dispersed location, high grade, and large scale, among which iron, titanium, tungsten, tin, rare earth, fluorite, kaolin, porcelain clay, mineral water and terrestrial heat are the advantageous mineral resources of Heyuan Municipality. The main producing areas of iron ore include Dading, Lianping and Baoshanzhang, Zijin, etc. With the total reserve of over 100 million tons, Dading Iron Mine is the largest of its kind in Guangdong Province, and has high quality, easy-to-mine, and easy-to-select iron ore in large quantity, which is rare in the country. Tungsten mines are mainly located in Lianping and Zijin County, and Jubankeng Tungsten Mine in Lianping is the largest one of its kind in Guangdong Province.

¡¡¡¡Water Resource Heyuan has abundant water resource and is the drinking water resource location for downstream areas. Xinfengjiang Reservoir, the largest one in Southeast China, is located within the borders of the municipality, with water capacity of 13.9 billion cubic meters, and water area of 370 square kilometers. Heyuan has abundant hydropower resource, with theoretical reserve of 1.499 million kw, which accounts for 18% of the whole province, among which 1.143 million kw are developable. By the end of 2003, the total installed capacity developed in the whole municipality had reached 0.7104 million kw, with 0.4326 million kw reserve to be developed.

¡¡¡¡Biological Resouces Heyuan has abundant propagation resources. There are 200 animal species including national secondary protected animals such as sambar, serow, silver pheasant, pangolin, etc. Among the 1000 floristics there are five types of? wildings including trees, bamboos, economic woods, flowers, and Chinese medicine herbs. As one of the important wood bases of the province, Heyan also has precious woods such as castanophy-trix,°×Àè,°×³í,»Æ³í, Yellow Cinnamomum,Elaeocarpus sylvestris, besides pine trees and firs. Inside Xinfengjiang Reservoir area there are the famous forest gene library and Dayeshan Natural Protected Zone, the national precious and rare animal protection zone, with an area of 14,500 hectares, where Xinfengjiang National Forest Park was approved to be built in 1993 by the State Council.
